2-day Mad Science Camp with interactive learning and explosive science fun!

Venue Address: Melbourn All Saints Community Hall, Station Road, Melbourn, ROYSTON, Cambridgeshire, SG8 6DX

Monday 6th August - Construction and Destruction
Create, build and challenge yourself! Explore all concepts of forces (the power of 'pushes' and 'pulls'!) and discover the strengths of different shapes. Learn how these shapes create sturdy homes and skyscrapers as we all become Mad Science engineers! Working in teams we will be building bridges, towers, wartime bunkers and even buildings – who can build a building to withstand an earthquake or even a bomb!? Then, all hands on deck, as we take on the mighty trebuchet challenge....

Thursday 9th August - Mission Nutrition
Explore the chemical reactions that take place in your tummies every day...! And learn why what you put in them is scientifically important. What happens to your sandwich from the moment it enters your mouth?? The children will recreate their own digestive system in this exploration of healthy eating and nutrition. The children will also explore some important germs and bugs that can affect our bodies in all sorts of clever and dangerous ways – they will learn to avoid the bad bugs and eat the good ones! Then our mini Mad Scientists will take a hands-on look at the chemistry that goes on in our kitchens. They will hunt for starch, sugar and fats in foods and investigate a living organism that helps bread rise with a bubbling chemical reaction... Who would have thought that cooking was so scientific and fun!

Please note, there is no camp on Tuesday 7th August and Wednesday 8th August
